This is a 3D remake of an 80s pixel art image “Four-Byte Burger” by Jack Haeger, inspired by Stuart Brown’s video exploring and recreating the artwork.
I’ve made this remake using Blender and GIMP. I started by importing the image into Blender and creating the basic shapes using it as a reference. Most ingredients started with a circle, though the diskette started as a cube and lettuce was made by tracing out its silhouette with vertices. Once the meshes are finished and unwrapped, I used Cycles Baking to create a projection of the original Four-Byte Burger image onto a texture. I edited it in GIMP, attempting to preserve the original pixel art look and style where possible and filling out the obstructed areas. I made the sauces with Blender’s metaballs, and used Voxel Remesh to give them the stylistically appropriate look that blends pixel art with 3D.
