Recumbent graveslab of an early 18th century priest, lying inside the eastern end of the chancel at the southeast corner of the medieval nave and chancel church ruins (TN009-003001-) in Kilbarron, Co. Tipperary. Graveslab in the southeast angle of the chancel dated 1706 which is dedicated to a local priest Donatus (Donnchadh/Donogh/Denis) Kenedy. The Latin inscription carved in false relief reads ‘DONATUS KENEDY SACERDOS 27 ANOS NATUS II 8BRIS 1706 OBUIT MEMENTO MORI’ - ‘Donogh Kenedy, Priest, 27 years old, died 11th October 1706, remember you will die / remember death comes to all’. The word Sacerdos is the Latin word for priest, the word is derived from sacer meaning sacred. Above the inscripton there is a ringed-cross carved in false relief with expanded terminals.
