This is rock art panel 44a at the Honanki Heritage site in the Coconino Forest NW of Sedona Arizona. This panel is being monitored due to natural fracturing and sloughing of rock destroying the panel. Compare this model to FS0124 (2016) and FS1263 (2018).
The pictograph is interpreted to be a variation of an Akaka Wasiva created by the Yavapai culture in pre-historic or proto-historic time.
The initial model created in 2016 indicates a natural fracture passing thru the pictograph with no apparent offset. In May 2018 the fracture had expanded to 8mm of downward and outward rock offset. In July 2018, the offset increased to 20mm and a new fracture appeared in the lower offset rock section. Shortly after, the section of rock below the new fracture sloughed off, removing part of the pictograph. This latest model shows an increase in offset along the fractures of several millimeters.
