This is a an area of Panel 27 at the Palatki Heritage Site Roasting Pit Alcove. This panel is part of a study of possible Paleo Indian, Archaic and Sinagua petroglyphs in association with probable Archaic and Sinagua pictographs.
Multiple areas of this rock face have complex layers of rock fracture fill and iron enriched (pre-surface exposure) and variable patinated red sandstone.
This study is being carried out by volunteers of the Sedona Friends of the Forest (FOF), the Verde Valley Archaeology Society(VVAS) and the American Rock Art Research Association (ARARA)
