Panel 11 at the Bear Alcove at the Palatki Heritage Site NW of Sedona Arizona. The deep wide grooved petroglyphs were believed to be “Verde Incised” style attributed to the Western Apache Culture post 1500 AD. The white paint is interpreted to be Sinagua pre-dating 1400 AD. There is clear evidence of paint still being present within some of the grooves indicating they are Sinagua or older in origin. There are also fine incised grooves in this part of the panel that are clearly filled with paint indicating that they are most likely similar to those seen on nearby rock art panels and are believed to be Archaic.
This model was created for detailed study of fine incised vs deep grooved petroglyphs in the area. The original model was processed at the highest level for alignment and depth map quality with 12mm mesh faces. THe widest vertical grooves are approximately 4 mm wide. The medium grooves 2mm wide and the fine incised grooves are just under 0.5 mm wide.
In cross section both U and V shaped are present.
