More model informationArchaic style pictograph on Panel 3 of the Grotto Rock Art Alcove at the Palatki Heritage Site NW of Sedona, AZ. This is one of multiple pre-historic pictographs that are believed to be “fading” from dust or natural processes on the cliff face.
The area covered by this model is almost 15 centimeters across.. 36MP Nikon with 100mm Tokina macro lens. No focus shifting. The lens was set at close to 1:1 with overlapping photos each covering less than 25 x 40 mm area. This model is in comparsion to much higher magnification images indicating that dust is not responsible for covering the red paint. Precipitated silica (opaline ?) does appear in higher magnification imagery acquired with a digital microscope with built in camera. Model to follow.
