There are over 160 Civil War veterans at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, the oldest surviving cemetery in the Sioux Falls area.
Many of them have these distintive metal stars with built-in brackets for flags on the rear. These stars were planted by the gravestones of members of the Grand Army of the Republic. See this link for further information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Army_of_the_Republic
I thought this would be a good time to share this 3D model. (I realized after the fact that I forgot to properly scale this model. It should measure about 7.25 inches across. I also forgot to repair the rear of this model to make it properly ready for printing. I apologize and will try to fix it later).
Here’s to all our veterans, from all our battles and wars. We will never be able to thank them enough.
