Carved outcrop in the Gayles Moor / Feldom Ranges area, near Richmond in North Yorkshire.
This area of outcrop sits towards the southern edge of a small plantation, near a small hill known as ‘Hill 99’. It’s one of over a hundred carvings located within the extensive Ministry of Defence firing ranges. The motifs appear on the north sloping face and consist of 2 cups with unusual elongated ‘keyhole’ designs and several other cups.
Recorded in the 1998 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale’ as C11, and subsequently included in the 2008 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art in the North Dales’ as FR8a.
