More model informationThis German Badischer Grenadiers helmet known as a ‘pickelhaube’ was picked up at the Battle of Neuve Chapelle by Private Malcom Macleod of the 1/4th Seaforth Highlanders. The helmet has a bullet hole where the wearer was killed – made of leather, pickelhaube helmets offered little protection and made popular trophies for British soldiers to collect from the battlefield. Part of the Queen’s Own Highlander’s Museum collection.
