Glebe - WM012-076002 - Sheela-na-Gig3D ModelNoAI
Also known as the Taghom Sheela. This carving is set on a rectangular slab above a window. The head is large and is often described as having four eyes. There are four indents on the face of the object which may represent a dual set of eyes, or the upper set may be inset eyebrows. The nose is quite large and bulbous on the end with large nostrils. The mouth is blown out with large lips, and teeth on the top and bottom showing. Two features extend from the chin which may be facial hair. The head is sunken into the body and the shoulders pulled in. The legs are crouched, and knees raised up to the armpits, with the large hands on the knees. No sign of feet. A large vulva is shown between the knees. The carving sits above a window which may be later in date.
