for this one i started with a rough sculpt in zbrush to get basic shape then for the final strands I used a mix of Dylan Ekrens IMM hair brush and topology brush with Zmodeler. For Uving them I used UVLayout and what ive been told is called the "parametric unwrap" feature (shortcut R! hah) and it straightens the UVs right out. Thank goodness for that tool otherwise id have gone crazy straightening those curls (it only works on certain geos tho, so all my hair-strands are basically rectangles).
I'm curious about your hair workflow in general, do you prefer modeling the hair twirls then laying out the UVs flat or do you create flat geometry with flat UVs and then Deform the geometry into hair strand shapes?
