Continuing the exploration of creating content in VR, this time from a simple plan view sketch. Plan view sketches are fun, but they lack information about the lofting of curves, and relative proportions in all the other views. GS allows for tracing from a reference image, so I did that and then immediately began editing the curves to create a 3D curve network model. The switch with this design, was that I didn’t complete the curve network for the whole car. I started carving in surfaces, and playing around… the results (after a couple rounds of refinement) are what you see here. Some of the surfacing was emergent from the process of playing around with the tools within GS. Some of the refinements were a result of critique from my peers (thanks BP, JD). I am finding that the ease with which you can go back and tear into a model, and edit the design makes it feel less daunting. Interior is not finished, but it was modeled at full scale (to fit me), windscreen has some warbles, so I guess it’s a WIP?
