The pelvis is divided by the pelvic brim into greater (false) and lesser (true) compartments, above and below, respectively. The pelvic brim includes the upper border of the pubic symphysis and marked by the pectineal line (aka, pecten pubis) & the arcuate line of the ilium (together called the iliopectinal line), and the sacral promontory.
