More model informationThis was a side project I did with the remaining 5-10 minutes I had left at the end of lunch during work. I built this over the space of 2-3 months in 3ds max and textured using photoshop. the original concept was by an artist called Kenny McBee for a Dark Siders 2 competition on Polycount.
Sadly I didn’t do much research before starting and realized he had actually made a 3D model of his concept already.... Hopefully he doesn’t mind :) his work was pretty awesome so once I saw it, I got into modelling it straight away (Y) Cheers to you Kenny!

@julianoy
Hey Julian, Thanks! Sorry about the late reply been too busy recently so only saw your comment now. It's a nifty little trick I was taught by someone on Sketchfab actually haha... what you do is you make a duplicate model of your working model and push the polygons out by a little bit and flip the normals... afterwards you apply an unlit shader to it and it gives you that nice black outlined look :)
Really awesome axe ! I saw this on polycount. How did you get the black borders around your model?
@Onelio Yeah, it took me a while to adjust... I was always more of a realistic style modeler... it took me about 7 months go get comfortable with this level of hand painting... my best advice is just to practice 2D painting... once you know how to paint something from scratch in photoshop... reapplying that skill to a 3D model comes quite easily... it's all about 2D art foundation and knowledge at the end of the day :)
I thnk that the "hand painted" effect is too hard and complicated to do, ¿no?
