Area of carved bedrock found to the W of Hanging Stones and NW Hangingstones Quarry on Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire.
This is another example of rare carved bedrock in the Rombalds Moor area. Believed to be referenced IAG279 in Boughey & Vickerman’s 2003 publication, ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding’ where it is described as:
‘Exposed bedrock with some layers of surface worn away. 3 cups’
The CSI: Rombalds Moor project referenced this section of stone and IAG280 ‘Hangingstones 03’ on ERA in 2013. Although, it is unclear whether the latter has been referenced correctly.

This decimated model was created from 6 stereo pairs captured by Richard Stroud (CSI team) in July 2013. The imagery forms part of the HLF funded CSI: Rombalds Moor / Watershed Landscape Project archive.
