Haunted Mansion Project: Lafitte's Tomb

Inspired by the legendary pirate, Jean Lafitte, Imagineer Eddie Sotto created a new story that woud tie three major attractions (Haunted Mansion, Pirates, and Tom Sawyer Island) together into the same universe, with Lafitte at the center of it all. This would include a catacomb tunnel between this tomb at HM and Tom Sawyer Island. The model tomb features concepts from Sotto’s concept sketches like Spanish Cannons for pillars and a skull and cutlasses near the top. Going further into the idea, I also added real ship lanterns from the time Lafitte was alive, as well as a door made from ship’s wood and bars from a ship’s brig instead of the conventional iron doors. The tomb also features Lafitte’s flag, fleur de lis, and a latin warning to all who would enter. You can learn more about Sotto’s original concept in the link below. Enjoy!
