Small rock found near High Crag Cottage near Lartington, County Durham.
The NADRAP team were alerted to this stone by the landowner at Low Crag Farm. Although the team weren’t convinced by the prehistoric nature of the marking, they recorded the stone as ‘High Crag 1’ and added it to ERA in 2008. They describe:
“Although the cup is definitely not natural, its conical shape isn’t typical of the area and categorising it as being from the ‘cup and ring’ tradition would be unsafe. During recording there was some debate about the panel being within the gates swing and possibly the cup being used as a stop”
