More model informationThis Hingham Bucket is one of the many Lyman family heirlooms on display in the Lyman Mission House in Hilo, Hawai‘i. The House was originally built in 1839 to house the Reverend David and Mrs. Sarah Lyman and their growing family; it also welcomed many visitors in the 1800s, a time when there were no hotels in Hilo. Sarah sent the round wooden bucket by ship to her friends on the neighbor islands, transporting such delicacies as pies, cakes, grapes, and sugar cane … and their treats to her by return ship! The Hingham Bucket was named after its place of manufacture, Hingham, Massachusetts.
