More model informationThe HMVS Cerberus was constructed for the Victorian Navy and launched in 1868. She arrived in Port Phillip Bay in 1871, where she spent the rest of her career serving the Victorian Colony and subsequently the Royal Australian Navy before her retirement in 1924.
After her retirement the Cerberus was sunk as a breakwater at Half Moon Bay in Melbourne where she still remains with her deck just sitting above the waterline at low tide.

@friendsofcerberus Hi John, thanks for the feedback! I very much appreciate it. I am trying to make these models as accurate as possible so your information is invaluable. I can see what you're talking about in the plan drawing on your site, I'll be amending the model to suit.
An excellent model. To avoid any confusion, what could be mistaken as the funnel is actually the Pilot House (Conning Tower) which had 8 inches of armour on its front and rear and 9 inches on its sides. The funnel was totally removed in 1924 so as to remove the engines and boilers etc. Details on the armour of Cerberus can be seen at cerberus.com.au/armour.html
