The monastery of Saint George of Ritini is built on a rock, with a view of Mount Olympus and is geographically located in the village of Ritini, in the Municipality of Katerini and belongs to the Prefecture of Pieria. The Holy Monastery of Saint George of Ritini was founded during the post-Byzantine period, a fact that can also be identified from the paintings of the Monastery, which are a typical example of post-Byzantine iconography of the Macedonian countries. The frescoes of the monastery are dated between the 14th and 16th centuries, the dating of the monastery was declared according to the frescoes and this particular monastery has the oldest fresco in the Prefecture of Pieria, which dates back to around 1494, along with later ones dated in 1619.
