Holy Water Font at Castillo de San Marcos3D ModelNoAI
This feature is one of two stuccoed baptismal fonts for holy water that are found on either side of the entry doors to the Chapel (Room 14) at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. These fonts are very fragile and are today covered with plexiglass to protect the surface structure. Restoration techniques include treatment with lime based plaster materials for protective measures. As part of our 3D documentation work at the Castillo, our team worked with the National Park Service to access the fonts and remove the plexiglass covers during laser scanning and imaging surveys. These 3D data are useful for planning conservation treatments, and can help with fabrication and restoration measures that may become necessary. Additionally, the 3D and imaging can be used here for public engagement, education, research, and virtual tourism. The background image for the model is a 3D render of the room wall from laser scanning survey data.
