Homo ergaster

Location: Nariokotome III, West Turkana, Kenya.

Age: 1.6 million years ago.

Material: epoxy resin cast.

Dimensions: length, 204 mm; width, 133 mm; height, 124 mm.

Notes: RLA catalog no. 2501.1rp31 (cast). Fossil discovered in 1984 by K. Kimeu. Recovered in 1984 and 1985 by Alan Walker and Richard Leakey. Cranium from 80% complete skeleton. Earliest specimen of Homo erectus. About 12 years old, may be younger. Known as “Turkana Boy.” Cast made by Bone Clones, Inc. From the teaching collection of the Research Laboratories of Archaeology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Model by Aidan Paul.
