Hopi Lake Bidahochi Shoreline Terraces - Arizona3D Model
Potential shoreline terraces of Hopi Lake / Lake Bidahochi in the desert of Arizona. Tied in with the lake spillover breached dam theory for the formation of the Grand Canyon. Geophysical survey indicates these lines are a possible ancient shoreline of the southeastern lake that spilled through near Desert View and subsequently carved the Little Colorado River Gorge near Cameron, Arizona.
This massive lake was tied in with two others to the north. Together, these lakes were thousands of cubic miles in volume and trapped in the Colorado Plateau before breaching the Kaibab Plateau. This is one plausible theory presented for the formation of the Grand Canyon via catastrophic lake spillover—an idea remaining in the scientific community since is was proposed by geologist John S. Newberry in the 1800s.
