This is a detail from a Pictish symbol stone, decorated with an incised horseman carrying a spear and drinking from a horn.
Dating from the 9th or 10th century, the triangular block of stone was found in the grounds of Dunkeld House in the mid-19th century, the full stone was moved around 1946 into the base of the tower at Dunkeld Cathedral.
