More model informationThis is a plastinated human heart that was donated for research. The donor was a 36 year old male with a history of Thrombocytopenia (low blood platelet count), arrhythmia, left ventricle hypertrophy, hypertension, and right-side hemiplegia. This heart was injected with a blue contrast dye post fixation to highlight the coronary vessels on the surface of the heart. These vessels supply the heart itself with oxygen to keep it beating.
We partner with LifeSource to receive donated organs deemed not viable for transplant.
