More model informationThis sample has an ancient museum tag on it that says “hypersthene altering to bronzite and asbestos.” The tag says It is from Hartford, Maryland, but I suspect that it really may be from Harford County, Maryland. It is 9.5 cm in wide. We made a thin section (you can see some saw marks on one end) and found that there is not much pyroxene left. It is mostly chlorite and serpentine. The greenish color is the specimen suggests olivine is present but no fresh olivine can be seen in thin section.
