More model information25 March 2019 This portable stone is in Inverness Museum. Its origin has not yet been established. The cups show signs of toolmarks. There are rings or partial rings round 3 of the cups, and a curved groove, also showing toolmarks. The stone is a friable fine sandstone. Its surface has a sort of cement-like residue on it in places - maybe it has been built into a wall in the past?
If turned so that the pointed end with the clear cup and ring is at the bottom, it looks like a face with the groove forming a sort of brow.
