The Chinsegut Hill Manor House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located near the City of Brooksville, Florida. The house dates to 1847, when Colonel Byrd Pearson claimed the land and surrounding acres. Francis H. Ederington would purchase the property and build the manor house we see today. The property would trade hands, with the middle 20th century owners, Raymond and Margaret Robins, bringing new notoriety to the house, entertaining famous dignitaries and guests from around the world at Chinsegut.
Six headstones commemorate pioneer burials for the Ederington family at the Ederington Cemetery, with death dates from 1858-1880. This stone is for one-month-old infant, Joseph. Symbolism of note on this headstone is the carved broken rose bud- representing the flower that did not bloom iand a life cut short.
