This one has a story…
Sister and I were jumping around various VRChat worlds and came across one that had a bunch of prefabs in it. One of these prefabs was a working instant camera, kinda like a Polaroid, but the model was very undetailed and basic. Little more than a cube with a simple UI element on it. So I turned to my sis and excitedly exclaimed “Hey! I can do that, but better!”
An hour of modelling, another half hour of texturing, then about eight hours of coding later and we now have a fully functional, feature complete instant camera working in VRChat. This is the model I made, and an example of one of the pictures taken with it in game! The green square on top of the camera is where a little UI element sits (remaining shots - 10 max)
This entire project was super fun to do, and was a great learning experience for so much of Udon coding. Networking code is an absolute bear…
This prefab will be free to our patreons soon enough, and available on our Gumroad page once we squish all the bugs.
