Jabal Maqla in the al-Lawz moutnain range in Saudi Arabia’s northwest Tabuk region has been proposed by historians and explorers as a possibl sight for the real Mount Sinai in Arabia for some time. A Sinai in Arabia has been promoted by biblical archaeologists and scholars for well-over a century now.
Depsite popular claims and promotion by explorers and amateur archaeologists—most notably Ron Wyatt—no proper archaeological dig nor scientific survey has taken place in this area. Still the location and its initial finds make is a top contender for the actual location of Mount Sinai and Mount Horeb as described in the Book of Exodus with Moses and the 10 Commandments, and 1 Kings 19 with the prophet Elijah, who sheltered in a cave on the mountain. -Nate Loper
