These are the nine Megalonyx fossils sent to Thomas Jefferson in the late 1700s. This particular arrangement of the numbered hand is from an illustration adapted by Tom Dunne from a drawing by Dennis Murphy of the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. The numbered hand is directly adapted from the illustration while the nine fossils were 3-D scanned with a NextEngine Desktop 3-D scanner at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelpha on March 9 and 10, 2020.
