JR7-R “Javelin” BattleMech – Mobile 3D Scan via RealityScan

This model is a 3D scan of a hand-painted, 3D printed miniature – captured using the RealityScan mobile app.

The goal was to quickly digitize a physical miniature without a full photogrammetry setup. While the scan provides a solid visual approximation of the painted model, it comes with some technical limitations:

-Lighting and shadows are baked into the texture, making it unsuitable for dynamic or physically accurate lighting environments. - Mesh detail and texture fidelity are lower compared to scans from a custom rig. -Some minor geometry distortions may be visible upon close inspection and possibly need some cleaning in model editing program, ala Blender.

Still, this mobile workflow is a useful and fast way to digitize painted miniatures for casual display, concept previews, or non-interactive visualization.
