I den sydligaste delen av Kronobergsgatan i Växjö hittades en välbevarad källare. Den hörde till ett hus som förstördes i den stora stadsbranden år 1843. Källarens golv var stenlagt i ena halvan och bestod av ett brädgolv i andra halvan. På golvet fanns en mängd kastanjer. Varför man samlat in kastanjer är oklart, kanske att man använt dem vid garvning av hudar.

In the southernmost part of Kronobergsgatan in Växjö, a well-preserved cellar was found. It belonged to a house that was destroyed in the great city fire in 1843. The basement floor was paved in one half and consisted of a wooden floor in the other half. On the floor there were a lot of chestnuts. Why these were collected is unclear, perhaps were they used when tanning skin.
