The area was heavily impacted by selective logging and hunting, activities that have stopped since 2017, because it obtained a conservation concession with the aim of protecting the forest and the reintroduced spider monkeys. Since that year, thanks to the concession’s monitoring, investigation, patrolling, control and surveillance activities, no illicit activity has been reported in the area. It is necessary to maintain a continuous presence in the area to keep the pressures controlled, for this reason since 2018 we have lived and worked in the forest of the concession. Without our presence, selective logging would continue, invasions, land use change for crops, hunting and mining would be the main threats to the area. In addition, we are part of the buffer zone of the Tambopata National Reserve, having a conservation agreement with them for the protection and monitoring of the area attached to our concession.
Our forest presents a great diversity of flora and fauna, even new species have been found in our
