** The Panel of the Ostriches (CRGB colour space) **
The composition of upper the Panel of the Ostriches comprehends human figures, bovines, two ostriches and five aligned rounded shapes with appendages. The humans are painted in the Tamada and Fada styles (“Recent Bovidian”). The rounded shapes near the upper edge of the panel are internally decorated with complex patterns. They closely resemble the decorated heads of the pecked figures depicted in the famed Niola Doa site. Very likely these shapes are fragmentary remains of “Niola Doa-like” painted humans, which bodies completely disappeared because of selective decay of pigments. A white lobed motif present to the lower left of the second and third rounded shape could represent the wrist pendants worn by some Niola Doa figures.
