Statement

While on an afternoon walk though Yerevan’s old part of town, I stumbled on a Khachkar workshop, which was quite a sight having never seen the process before. The artist had finished his work for the day and left for the night, leaving his workshop totally open for any passerby’s to see. I suppose it would be difficult for anyone to try and steal any of his work :)

While capturing the workshop, I realized there was a sign on one of the Khachkars (the upright one standing to the right of the entrance) which said:

Having recently read about the destruction of milliania-year-old Khachkars in Nakhchivan, I was delighted to discover that this artist was working on reconstructing one of the lost treasures in Julfa.

I hope that this photogrammetry capture digitizes the process behind what it takes to sculpt these works of art.
