Kindberg Meteorite

The 195 g (originally 233 g) Kindberg meteorite specimen was found almost 8 months after the bright fireball event of November 19th, 2020, seen by hundreds of people from Austria, Germany, and Italy. Based on specialized meteor cameras records, its pre-atmospheric orbit was calculated, something that is known for only ~40 of the tens of thousands recognized meteorites, allowing to track its source region in the Solar System.

Part of this fragment of the Kindberg meteorite will be added to the display in Hall 5 of the NHM Vienna, stay tuned!
