Splat Balustrade Staircase from The Early 1800’s section of Ocean Hotel called The Kings Head Hotel, Sandown, Isle of Wight, In a Regency rectangular design reflective of renaissance styling. Its boards walked by many guests over the years including Darwin & Lewis Carroll, travellers could head downward towards the flickering amber light from the downstairs coffee lounge fireplace, or up past the glowing sunrise as it poured over the eastern sea across the rooftop through the window mid way up the staircase. The hotel was affordable for many traveller, yet decked with refinery within wild grounds of red valerian & Birdsfoot trefoil. In 1899 it became part of a new large extension designed by Henry Lowenfield (who later built london’s apollo theatre) and the whole site named simply “Ocean”
