More model informationA medieval sculpture of Christ in Majesty, probably thirteenth century, at Tealing, Angus, Scotland. The sculpture is likely to have originally formed part of an altarpiece, altar-frontal, or possibly door surround, in the medieval parish church. After this was demolished and replaced by the present building in 1806, the panel was built into the outer face of the kirkyard wall. It has suffered badly from deliberate damage and weathering: much of the original surface, including Christ’s face, legs, hands, and robe have been lost, but a small area of detail showing the folds in the robe gathered in by a belt survives on the left side of the figure’s body.
