This female kissing Bug (Triatoma dimidiata) was collected in Posorja, Ecuador and 3D-scanned using scAnt by EvoBiomech.

This insect is part of the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Research Division collection at the CISeAL (Center for Research on Health in Latin America). This research complex studies tropical diseases in order to mitigate their effects and potentially eradicate them for good.

Triatoma dimidiata is an important vector of Chagas disease in several countries of Central and South America (including Ecuador).

Reconstructed from 105 photos using RealityCapture 1.3 and further processed with Blender 3.3.1.
