More model informationThis is an effigy of a knight from the church of St John the Baptist, Belleau, Lincolnshire. This is described in the Listed Building entry (https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1063630?section=official-list-entry): In the south aisle a late C13 effigy of a knight, recumbent in chain mail, and a surcoat. Feet on a lion, angel supporters to either side of the pillowed head. The monument is supposed to have come from the site of the Cistercian Priory at Greenfield, Aby. Tummers’s book “Early Secular Effigies in England” is definite that the double cushion with attendant angels is “a certain indication of a date after c.1300”. Photos taken in September 2022 and processed in Meshrooom and Meshlab.
