Kronosaurus was a gigantic marine reptile that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, approximately 120 million years ago. Belonging to the group of pliosaurs, Kronosaurus is estimated to have reached lengths of up to 9-10 meters (30-33 feet) and weighed around 10-12 metric tons. Its most distinctive feature was its massive skull, which could measure over 2.5 meters (8 feet) in length and was armed with large, conical teeth up to 30 centimeters (1 foot) long. These teeth were perfectly adapted for catching and crushing its prey, which included fish, squid, and other marine reptiles. Kronosaurus had a streamlined body with powerful flippers, allowing it to move swiftly through the water. Fossil discoveries indicate that it inhabited shallow seas and coastal waters around what is now Australia and South America. As a top predator of its time, Kronosaurus played a crucial role in maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems.
