More model information

In 1873 a rock along the shores of Bristol RI was discovered that was thought to have obvious markings made by vikings who first visited the area. At that time it was named “Northmen’s Rock.”

On June 13, 1919, under the auspices of the Rhode Island Citizen’s Historical Society (not the Rhode Island Historical Society), it was dedicated with picturesque ceremony and with appropriate addresses, and was christened in the ancient manner with corn, wine and oil, receiving the name “Lief’s Rock.”

Not much can be seen of the original carvings, but with the used of photogrammetry I was able to see what little is left of them.
