"Les Abrits 2" Dolmen, Ardèche, France.3D Model
The megalithic structure “Les Abrits 2” is a late Neolithic dolmen in the Ardèche region of France. Dolmens are a type of megalithic structure found through Europe. Used by prehistoric communites to bury their dead. This tomb would have been used about four and half thousand years ago.
This structure was excavated in 1980 by Odette and André-Charles Gros. During this excavation a large quantity of bones and objects were recovered. It is one of the rare tombs in this region to have been the subject of such a detailed and well documented excavation. In addition, the skeletal and dental collection was the subject of a complete biological study as well as a spatial analysis based on the field documentation.
Dr Mélie Le Roy excavated this site with volunteers from QUB in the summers of 2017 and 2018.
