Little Skirtful of Stones 01 (March 2013)3D Model
This is one of over a dozen carved rocks found in a prehistoric - probable Bronze Age - cairn on Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire.
Known as ‘The Little Skirtful of Stones’, the cairn has a visible diameter of material measuring approx 15 metres and it reaches 2 metres in. A ridge / platform around the base of the cairn probably suggest an original diameter around 20 metres. 14 carved rocks have been recorded within the cairn, but they tend to get relocated as people pick them and place them down. This particular example sat on the western side of the cairn in 2013 and was recorded ‘Little Skirtful of Stones 01’ by the CSI: Rombalds Moor project. It has a single cup.
