LIVE 3D scanning can enable active learning. Evidence can be placed at the front of a large theater where students would normally struggle to see it. A student can use an iPhone to photograph the evidence and air drop the photographs to the professor’s laptop. The photographs can be shown to students for immediate feedback and live critique. However, students would normally be bored waiting for a student to make photographs and they would be unable to see the evidence on the floor at the front of the room. To enable all students to participate, a LIVE 3D scan can be made, using the Scaniverse app, as students wait for the volunteer photographer to make the photos. As the scan is made, students can see the scanning process on the overhead projector, watch the processing, and then we can see and talk about the evidence using the 3D model just made in class. Here is an example set of evidence produced in this way.
