The Roman Lorica Segmentata Armor - Newstead type, it is reconstructed from iron plates with brass fittings. It’s a type of personal armour that was used by soldiers of the Roman Empire, consisting of metal strips fashioned into circular bands, fastened to internal leather straps. The lorica segmentata has come to be viewed as iconic of the Roman legions in popular culture. The tendency to portray Roman legionaries clad in this type of armour often extends to periods of time that are too early or too late in history.

@mikecbishop Hi. Thank you for writing to me. Yes, the 3D modeling is done for the video game so as not to affect the performance unnecessarily. In fact, I recently did a renewed modeling of the Newstead Segmentata with higher resolution and polygons. Soon, I will add the straps inside the Segmentata. Thank you for your clear communication
This is one of the better lorica segmentata models available on Sketchfab (or, indeed, anywhere else) and sticks closely to the available archaeological evidence, rather than wandering off into the realms of fantasy (as too many do). Its one major failing is the lack of internal leathering (the straps that hold all the bits together, so rather crucial!), and thus its value as a teaching aid is rather limited. If it was designed as a games asset, then fair enough, but it would make it so much more than a mere 'prop' if the additional effort of adding the straps had been made.
