A strutted piston design for ICE (Internal Combustion Engines). Designed for high strength steel alloys to make use of the high yield strength compared to more commonly used aluminum alloys. The design features internal oil channels fed by the oil scraper ring. The oil is used to directly lubricate the wrist pin and cool the piston dome. Shorter skirts reduce weight and thanks to the higher strength the wrist pin can be located closer to the top of the piston.
Work in progress.
Latest iterations: - lengthened the piston skirts for more stability - added a ‘barrel’ shape to the skirts for a tighter fit - calculated the expansion of the piston crown during maximum operating temperature (320°C) and compensated the diameter. - added a dome feature for improved flame travel and better distributed combustion pressure
