In very simple words, a superposition represents a certain state of a microparticle before measuring its location (state). It looks something like this. Suppose that a particle can be localized in two regions, A1 or A2. The states are described by the state functions - ψ1 and ψ2 , respectively . In addition to these two possible states, the microparticle has another, third state. It is determined by the sum of these two possible states: ψ3=C1 ψ1+ C2 ψ2 . The state described by the function ψ3 is the quantum superposition of possible states. I.e., it is a new quantum state that is obtained as a result of the superposition of theoretically possible states of microparticles before the measurement process. Regarding Schrodinger’s cat, superposition is the state of the cat before opening the box.”the cat is alive, the cat is dead” at the same time
