This late Neolithic (c.3200-2300 BC) ‘Orkney Pestle’ macehead is one of the finest in Scotland. It was found ‘on a bank’ in the Bay of Stove, Sanday, Orkney in the 1930s and donated to Stromness Museum in the 1960s. A late Neolithic building and other archaeological deposits are eroding from a cliff close the location this artefact was reportedly found.
